Light Weight, Eco-friendly Concrete Countertops
Riverside, CA — April 10, 2009— When it comes to concrete as countertops one of the first questions clients ask is are they heavy? In times past the answer was always yes. In recent years there have been many improvements in ways to reduce the weight of concrete. GFRC or Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete has made substantial advances as a material for countertops. It has long been used for Building Columns, fireplace surrounds and cast rocks. The glass fibers add strength and additional flexibility to the concrete mix allowing thinner concrete to be cast thus reducing the weight. The benefits of GFRC as a countertop material go well beyond just weight reduction.
